Gay Pride

So this one cracks me up; before school started up we were accidentally part of a gay pride parade. Accidentally. And we weren't even walking with our school. We walked with AUT (Auckland's Technical College) instead of UoA (my school; University of Auckland). So we traveled over the way to pick up some shirts (the ones we are wearing in the pictures) and watch the parade. We got the shirts from a coffee shop that they were at, all the AUT students were blasting music, dancing, eating pizza, free drinks, getting their face painted, going all out. It was a great vibe and a great time. So we stayed to get our faces painted, have a few drinks and then we were going to be on our merry way to get a spot to watch the parade. Well, somehow we found ourselves stuck, next think we knew we were getting directions and holding balloons that we were supposed to hand out. Okay this was fine, after waiting a bit we started plotting our escaped plans to get out after handing the balloons out in our area. (I mean think about it, from Green Bay, any parade I've ever been to you have free access to the side walks). It was all fun, we were dancing, then waited a longgg time to actually start walking. At this point we started hating ourselves for getting into it. Then the best part. We start walking finally and find out that there was no escape besides the end of the route. The whole time during the parade there was music blasting, and SOOO many people cheering on the sides. I mean this parade went on for what seemed like miles, and there was not a spot that was empty along the side. The amount of support was crazy. There were so many little kids, and just a whole variety of people that were hyped for this. For parents and everyone to allow their kids to be watching and supporting and just knowing the amount of people that really support this, it made all of our hearts happy. I honestly couldn't believe how many people were there. Long story short. The experience was incredible, we had a good time, and despite the amount of time spent waiting, we were really glad we did it all.
